What is the difference between GPA and CGPA at METU?

Written from the official source cited below. Where a rule changes each term, this answer describes the process and sends you to the source for the current dates.

At METU your GPA (semester grade point average) is calculated from the courses of a single semester, while your CGPA (cumulative grade point average) covers all semesters so far. Grades are given as letters (for example AA, BA, BB) that map to grade points, and each course is weighted by its credits. Your CGPA affects standing, honours, and some applications. For the exact grade-point scale and how standing is determined, see the METU academic rules and regulations.
