Course content

Practice-oriented approach with a specific emphasis on using research to inform and respond to problem areas through critical perspectives on socio-cultural, environmental, and technological dimensions in design. Carrying out research as an integral part of a design project. Incorporating design research methods, tools, and techniques that are relevant to the course including literature reviews and field studies, by adopting diverse research approaches such as ethnographic research, participatory design, generative and co-design, and research through design. Focusing on the topics selected by the instructor from among contemporary and cross-disciplinary problem areas through an in-depth understanding of and critical reflection on the design research process and possible designerly interventions.
