How do add/drop and course withdrawal work?

Right after registration there is an add/drop period when you can change your courses online. Later in the semester there is usually a separate course withdrawal (W) window with its own rules (for example, limits on how many courses you may withdraw from and how a W appears on your record). The precise periods and rules are defined by METU regulations and the academic calendar, check the official sources for the current term.
