Body perception and the role of medicine in shaping it. Metaphoric uses of illnesses. Medicalization and social control. The transition from sin to sickness. Medicine and Foucauldian ‘gaze’. Critique of postmodern conjuncture: ‘Health without body, intelligence without mind’.
