A survey of the Late Ottoman Empire through themes: socıopolitical and cultural, and diplomatic challenges and changes; autocratic governance and reforms; modern education, pan ideologies and identity issues; the emergence of diverse social groups driven by capitalist investments, agricultural commercialization; urbanization; technology adaptation: labor and gender; Ottoman İntellectual community and press; new legitimacy structures; modern diplomatic practices in response to 19th-century global politics.
