Classical problems in calculus of variations, Euler equations, Variational notation, Natural boundary conditions, Hamilton's principle, Lagrange equations. Transformation of boundary value problems into the problem of calculus of variation. Direct methods; Ritz method, Galerkin method, Kantorovich method, Weighted residual method.
