Course content
Introduction to the concept of stress and strain Normal and shear stresses due to axial loading, bending and transverse loading. Torsion of circular cross-sections. Stress concentrations. Analysis of linearly elastic problems Transformations of stress and strain in plane-stress and plane-strain problems. Design of beams for strength. Deflection of beams. Prerequisite:AEE 261 or consent of the department.
